Folding carton

Folding cartons are foldable packaging made of paper, cardboard, solid or corrugated board. Foldable containers made of composite materials are also included.

Folding carton is among the most popular packaging materials, which is mainly due to its versatility. It is available in various sizes and is popular in the use of moving boxes, storage containers or cardboard boxes for parcels. In its most robust form of three-ply corrugated board, folding cartons can even replace wooden packaging, while being much lighter.

Folding cartons are punched out of sheets and subsequently folded. This has two advantages. Firstly, they are easy to transport and only require very little space until they are used, and further, they can quickly go through a printing process in their flat state. This is not the only reason why folding carton is excellent for consumer goods packaging which can transport not only the goods but also the associated advertising message.

If composite materials are used, even liquids can be securely packaged. The carton thereby offers the advantage that the goods are protected from UV radiation, and nutrients and vitamins keep longer. The external surface of the carton can be treated with different types of coatings.

The folding carton can also show its versatility again at the end of its life cycle. Its easy disposal including the high recycling rate makes it a favourite also from the perspective of environmental protection. Its low storage foot print and low weight have already saved energy during transport and storage during its lifetime. This also has a positive impact on cost efficiency.

Hence, the folding carton is a genuine all-rounder and has, therefore, become one of the most popular packaging materials. It will remain an indispensable packaging method in our daily lives also in the future.
